Frederick Henry Clark

Frederick
Clark was born in Dover and enlisted in Canterbury as a Private
in the 8th battalion of the East Surrey Regiment. He
was acting as an officer when he was killed on 1st
March 1917, aged 32. Left were his wife, Nellie, (pictured) and
his nine-year-old son Frederick, named after him.

Roy
John Sutton
He was the son of
Norman and Daisy Sutton, born in 1922. He went to Barton Road
school and then the County (now Grammar) School. Volunteering
for the RAF in World War II he trained as a Sergeant Pilot in
South Africa. He died on his second flight during the night of 7th
November 1942 when his aircraft fell 300 feet into the sea off
the Ayrshire coast. His air gunner, Robert Ashleigh Farnon, a
musician then well-known under the name of Robert Ashleigh, was
also killed.
