Dover Anti-Aircraft Corps

FIRST ROLL CALL

This photocopy is of a scroll presented to the Mayor, Cllr E J Farley, in 1914. It lists those who formed the first roll, and their occupations. If you know where an original might be (there were two copies) or have a better image, please let us know.

This image was "stitched" together by Phil Eyden, He has recently (February 2011) completed a pamphlet entitled "Dover Anti-Aircraft Corps 1914-1916".

If you have any further information about the Great War Anti-Aircraft Corps, or any of the people who served, Phil would be most pleased to hear from you. We'll gladly pass on messages.

The transcription below was kindly supplied by Jean Marsh

Notes:

Mr Beaufoy, Mr Chitty, and Mr Geddes were members of an Esperanto Society founded in June 1904 in Dover: the secretary was Mr Geddes. Other members were Sir William Crundall (a Mayor of Dover) and Mr East (a head for 42 years of the Dover School of Art, and also a Mayor of Dover) (from an article  in the Kent Family History Society Journal for September 2012 by Bill Chapman, who would be pleased to receive further information about Esperantists in Dover)
